About
CRACKCOFFEE was born out of the idea of pursuing what you love, and that’s just what frustrated artist Jake Schumacher did…
“Every day I would be at my bench, working on a piece of furniture that didn’t inspire me, wishing some one would drive up and sell me an iced coffee so I could push through and finish the piece on time. I was conflicted, I loved living and working in the downtown but due to the down turn in the high-end furniture market, and my growing distain for unoriginal furniture, I needed to find a way out of the production machine while still supporting my family.
Little did I know, my daydreams were about to be expedited. Before I knew it, the company I was working for decided it was time to go out of business. So I had the crazy idea to build furniture that inspired me and to be the person delivering the coffee to the poor people trapped at work. So I rigged up my cruiser and enlisted Jayne from the Cookie Basket as a mentor, she was so gracious to mentor me and invite me in to share her kitchen even though we had not met previously. After that, it was time to get busy brewing high grade crack and enlisting my very talented friends to help build the business.
My first summer of CRACKCOFFEE was such a blast. It was a huge pleasure to meet all the people who make up Twin Fall’s downtown. The business carried my family and I through what could of been a very difficult season. Instead of being stressed, I enjoyed living out a daydream. As the summer turned to fall and fall to winter, my iced coffee sales began to slow and I had yet to develop a hot drink that met my standards so I decided to end the delivery season.
I am currently working for Lighthouse as a video producer. I have always been into film and now, to have a job were I can further develop my skills at work I am passionate about and work with people I enjoy, I feel truly blessed. I still build furniture in my studio, you can follow my adventures at prevailingcity.com and I still enjoy premium coffee.
I do feel for the poor downtown crowd that is still without a coffee shop, so when my friend Josh recently became unemployed, I offered him a chance to start the adventure over again and pursue the things he loves. He’s currently in the lab trying to develop the hot CRACKCOFFEE that will satisfy our discerning/addicted customers. So you might see him, out and about, gauging the interest in handcrafted coffee delivered via bicycle and who knows, if the brew is good and there is enough interest, the crackcycle may very well ride again.
